Aesthetic Essentials with Mr. Aesthetic: Ready for the Bar exam?

And just like that the Summer is over! I hope you enjoyed your vacation.  Because its back to school Ladies and Gentlemen, hopefully you didn’t slack off to bad, perhaps you did some occasional studying, but sorry that won’t cut it.  Especially if you’re trying to pass the BAR, that’s right the BAR exam (Lawyers aren’t the only ones).  Perhaps you have no clue what I’m referring to.  Look below:

Wearing a shirt and tie everyday can be a drag, especially if your one who likes to express their personality thru clothing choices.  This is why hitting the bar is a must, attaching this bit of personality expresses “Hey I’m not just a suit”

What are the rules for raising the bar?

* Coordinate the color of the tie bar with the rest of your men’s jewelry( sorry no earrings) which means gold cuff links, gold framed watch and yes a gold tie bar. Got it? Good.

*Proportions people!  If your tie is slim, well your tie bar should be a little on the slim side.

Slim tie bar:

Regular width tie bar:

*Where you place the tie bar is your personal preference.  Rule of thumb is to place the tie bar one button above where you would close your jacket or mid chest to be exact.   But who listens to rules anymore?  You can wear it super low if you’re feeling quite rebellious that day.  Or Super High and look like a nerd?  I suggest not doing the latter.

What makes a tie bar so special?  Nothing really, but in the conservative world of suit and tie, it offers you the opportunity to express that you understand the POWER of details….AND NO ONE MAN SHOULD HAVE ALL THAT POWER…

Until next time…
